The importance of vitamin D
A healthy and necessary nutrient that our body needs in order to create proper development and bone strength, in addition to creating uplifting moods and increased immune system health. One of the things I really love about a product like this is that you can get a great, accurate dose, and you eliminate the problem of having to swallow large pills.
The spray, which my boys call “sun sugar”, is really useful for me and my family in order to help us keep our vitamin D levels during the long winter months when we need to really take control of our health. Each spray has the potential to deliver enough vitamin D that a couple of sprays will make sure that you’re set for an entire day, without having to consume enormous amounts of food, or spend lots of time outside or in a tanning bed. When it’s not convenient to get outside, or your boys are like mine, picky eaters, you can use the spray to make sure that they’re still getting the nutrients they truly need.
While some may scoff, Vitamin D is an important hormone that our body needs in order to function properly, and an imbalance of this vitamin can have some truly adverse effects on our health. First, Vitamin D helps our bodies absorb necessary minerals, like Calcium, in order to help us build stronger teeth and bones. Vitamin D also has a direct effect on our mood and serotonin levels, metabolism, bone mass, height and more. A deficiency in this vitamin for an adult or a child can mean an increased risk for rickets, heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and some forms of cancer. Not receiving enough Vitamin D can also keep a younger person from reaching the peak of their genetically programmed maturity for their height and bone mass. It is recommended that a child receive up to 400 IUs of Vitamin D a day, but studies are now suggesting that this number is in fact very likely too low, and that it should be closer to 800-1000 IU a day. This amount of Vitamin D is impossible to consume using diet alone, and even exposing your skin to the sun for long amounts of time will not be able to keep up with the amount of recommend Vitamin D that we are not hearing we may need. These are just a few of the reasons we decided to try a liquid Vitamin D spray.
While you can also get plenty of Vitamin D from fatty fish, (such as north sea salmon, mackerel, herring and more) dairy products, juices and being out in the sun, sometimes, having a picky set of boys will keep you from being able t give them the amounts of vitamin D they need. It is important to make sure that they get enough in order to keep them developing properly.
